HSSE Activities & Programs
Various key HSSE programs have been implemented on the PETRONAS LNG Train 9 Project to enhance the project's health and safety, and environmental performance. The project’s Incident and Injury-Free™ program complements these HSSE programs to ensure the safety of employees throughout the construction and commissioning phase of the project.
WEEKLY SITE HSSE STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING
The Weekly Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) Steering Committee is chaired by the JGC Site Director and Site Manager, and management representatives of all project organizations take part in the regular meetings. Project HSSE statistics are being reviewed and concerning trends identified. Where required, actions to be taken are discussed and agreed to.
EQUIPMENT OPERATOR COMPETENCY PROGRAM
Prior to issuing employees with a competency card indicating that they are allowed to operate specific equipment, a competency assessment is carried out by the HSSE Mechanical Team. Operators who demonstrate competency are being issued a project specific equipment operator ID card.
Frequent emergency drills and exercises are carried out on site to ensure readiness of the project emergency response team. A dummy weighing 85 kilograms is used for emergency rescue drills to simulate the rescue of an employee.
PRACTICAL HSSE TRAINING
To ensure all project employees are competent to carry out their tasks safely, e.g. when working at height, practical hands-on training in the field has been integrated in the project HSSE Training program. A practical assessment is required to successfully complete the relevant training.
